TIMS Overview

Required for almost every trek

The Trekkers' Information Management System

TIMS records who is on which trail and when. It is what rescue teams and district offices work from if a trekker goes missing, and it is required for every trekker outside restricted areas — where the restricted-area permit already covers you.

Online process

Getting an E-TIMS permit

  1. Register — चरण नं. १

Create your trekking agency account at tims.ntb.gov.np.

  2. Verify — चरण नं. २

Upload your company registration, PAN, tax clearance, Department of Tourism licence renewal and current TAAN membership certificates, then wait for TAAN to verify them online.

  3. Enter trek details — चरण नं. ३

Once verified, fill in the TIMS area, route and trekker details and deposit the applicable fee.

  4. Submit and collect — चरण नं. ४

Submit the online form and the E-TIMS permit is issued automatically.

Where to apply

TIMS Nepal & your agency

Independent trekkers can apply directly on the TIMS system; most trekkers get theirs arranged by their agency as part of booking. Fees are set by the Nepal Tourism Board and TAAN, and are confirmed by your agency at the time of booking.
